Space Management System Zones
Zones may be Open, Closed, or Changing.
Open zones are spaces you can immediately move into without any obstacles in the way, such as another vehicle.
In the diagram shown, your vehicle occupies the central space. All spaces around it are “open” because no vehicle occupies any of the spaces.
By shifting your vehicle’s position into a free space, you can help keep traffic flowing and avoid a crash. It might be beneficial for you to imagine numbers in each of these spaces, as in the second diagram.
Closed zones are spaces or lanes around the central zone which are occupied by another vehicle or may contain a foreign object.
Changing zones can be either closed or open, and may change rapidly, depending on whether a vehicle is entering that space or departs, leaving it open.
