Prevent Drowsy Driving

There are a few things you should do before taking the wheel to prevent driving while drowsy:

  • Avoid driving late at night or driving alone
  • Drive in shifts with another driver if going on a long trip
  • Get enough sleep! Most adults need at least 7 hours of sleep a day, while teens need 8-9 hours
  • Develop good sleeping habits such as sticking to a sleep schedule
  • Avoid drinking alcohol or taking medications that make you sleep
  • Seek medical help for symptoms of sleep disorders
