Many associate cell phone use with distracted driving, which does make up a significant percentage of the category.  However, the actions and behaviors below are also considered distracted driving.

  • Eating a snack
  • Sipping a drink
  • Changing radio stations
  • Styling hair
  • Having to use the restroom
  • Caring for a pet
  • Smoking
  • Fixing makeup

Studies show those that eat or drink while driving are 80% more likely to be involved in a vehicle crash.
